PoscStudent's request. One cool thing that, unfortunately, I didn't get in this picture (how the **** did I manage that? Ha!): this building is covered with large, porthole-style windows - like the Sheraton. It's really quite charming.

Where's this building located?

Directly behind Bennett House in Pleasantville. Here is an earlier photo. The blue behind behind is Bennett House (and Quidi Vidi Lake, in turn, is a ways behind the houses in the background):

Thanks, it looks pretty cool. Did someone say this is affordable housing?

If only they would redevelop Hillview terrece.. you could fit like 10+ towers there and make them connect well with Torbay road, put a plaza or some retail at street level in strategic locations.. and then fancy up that part of Torbay road ... voila! a very attractive very urban neighborhood! and the Torbay road Mall would probably do much better hahaha

Great idea.

What was the announcement about the NL Housing on Empire? I heard it was coming, but never heard what it was. Probably just a re-clad, I suppose? Nothing cool?

Am I the only one daydreaming that Architype is soon going to post a diagram of how the new buildings will look onto a picture of the area?

Oh well lol .. great thing about this one is that it's neighbors are the rest of Tiffany Estates lol

Chances are that we wont see much on it.

Also hopefully this is the beginning of more exciting things coming soon such as the hotel on the Atlantic place Garage.
Just wait, I'm sure there will be NIMBYs lurking. The buildings may even cast a shadow on a school, and maybe some other things in the area. However, they have done a good job at justifying the development at 16 stories as opposed to 10, especially in that they only occupy half as much land as the other proposal.

Here's an overlooked document that compares the two proposals:

Maybe, but in the meantime look in the diagrams section for the new proposals as soon as they get my drawings up.

They're not there yet, still awaiting approval:

awesome

It's so weird to see the buildings on a flat plain like that, the elevations really add to how the city looks

It is unusual.

I love how, in the diagrams, you can really see just how complementary the designs of Fortis Place, Deacon, and the TD Place reclad really are. They look like three buildings in the same series. I love it.

I love that little glass atrium on the Fairfield - I genuinely didn't know it was going to be there. Driving up Kenmount this morning, it even looked very nice! I wonder what will be directly inside there? The pool? A restaurant?

It's probably a pool. I'm pretty sure Fairfield's are a limited service hotel and don't have restaurants. There's probably a continental breakfast service though.

Cool! Well, I'm thrilled with that little unexpected addition. Turns a perfectly acceptable suburban hotel into something a little bit more interesting. Good stuff.

If you check out page one of this thread, and scroll down, there is an artist concept of the Fairfield Marriott showing a water slide directly inside the glass enclosure so it is most likely a pool area.
