{SA} University Health Center-Downtown Renderings - wow!

This is the billion dollar expansion for both the downtown location and the Medical Center location.

very classy....would love to know how tall the big one is...

this will blend nicely with the haven for hope and looks like it'll give a more dramatic (i.e. urban) intro to DT SA from i-10.

Dang, I didn't expect them to get renderings for this for another couple of months. sakyle is right, this is the sort of variation and density that should characterize SA's downtown from every vantage point. If you can't won't build up, then build out, and build dense

I don't know what the hell I'm looking at. Is everything I see in the foreground new?

The existing hospital is the small building in the center of the rendering. You can see the I-35/I-10 interchange in the background. It looks like they're going to eliminate the arterial road on the north side of the campus to build one of the new buildings.

That would be Brady Green Clinic. Providing the type of care you wouldn't even wish on your worst enemy.

Like I've said before, I think density is just as impressive as tall buildings
Maybe the tallest building in the rendering would be somewhere near as tall as the Roberts Tower @ Baylor Medical Center Dallas (DT)

This is being built directly across from the Haven for Hope.

I assume there are roads/driveways for ambulances and other vehicles to get patients to those buildings without driving across the lovely grass.

Nice rendering. I'd say the tall building is 180 feet.

180' would be superb for something that is technically outside of DT.

from the renderings i've had access to of Haven For Hope, the access roads are still there. A few streets will disappear in order to facilitate the campus feeling of both the new hospital and homeless center.

(I'd post the renderings of the Haven for Hope to give y'all some idea of what will border this development, but I only have them on an internal PowerPoint and I don't konw how to get those images into any usable form. I'll email the PP to anyone who knows how - or to anyone who wants to see it...PM me.)

I have seen several maps that show areas outside the freeway on both sides as a part of downtown. Remember there was a downtown before the freeways were built.

yes yes, i know...

but, for the sake of convenience, we do have informal boundaries. you can call it downtown if you like...tom-A-to, tom-ah-to...

County commissioners today approved funding for this 4-1. This is now on the fast track to construction.

I found a cool pic. I would say most of these districts are apart of Greater downtown. The Alamodome is outside the freeway, and, if you say it's not downtown you are full of poo poo.
