Thanks guys, Kelowna has such a nice natural setting, I really hope it has a decent skyline within the next 20 years. You think one would try and funnel most of Kelowna's growth into high rises and infill, instead of eating away at the farmland and beautiful grasslands / ponderosa pine forests that make the area so enjoyable. You could easily fit the next 20 years worth of predicted growth into the existing urban footprint of Kelowna.
I drove through Kelowna today for the first time in about three years. I was surprised to see some decent sized building springing up, good job kelowna
I was in K-town on the Family Day long weekend and I drove up and down Harvey and Rutland trying to find a 24 hr drug store at abou 2 a.m. with no luck. My son was sick and needed a humidifier and some drugs. Man I was pissed. But apparently the new Rexall Drug store being built in Rutland (corner of hollywood and 33 on the old Petch site) will be 24 hr. I grew up in K-town have been away for about 8 yrs and i thought that with a pop. 150,000 there would've been something.
^It doesn't really surprise me since greater Victoria is about twice the population of greater Kelowna and as far as I know greater Victoria only has one 24 hour drugstore.
Spoolmak, family day is a holiday in some provinces, just not BC yet.
nice photos!
i believe the crane is for a mixed-use development in the landmark center, if that's the one you're thinking of.
also, i have a friend who lives in skye on the 14th floor, and it is one good looking building. great views from it!
It's about time the Gyro area cleaned its act up. That place has been so dumpy for so long. I can't begin to tell you how much weed I copped around there back in the day. And Tiny Town? Sheeeeeet. That was the first and last time I ever saw people eat Hamburger Helper using freesbies as plates.
Regardless of how "dumpy" Gyro might be, it's still a place where I had a ton of fun growing up...it would be sad for it to become some elitist rich-people-only place where the rest of us feel like we're not welcome.
