Stumbled on this thread. Love the art deco inspired design. Will be fun to watch this one go up!

That's what I thought too. I even thought they had rendering's with Bella Luna in there.

I checked the first page and there are several renderings with Bella Luna in them.

The restaurant is surrounded by the 9 story parking podium. And, a bit surprising to me, adds a nice flavor to the streetscape.

Friday 614

Made my first trip (hopefully of many) to OCS on Friday. Such a massive site. Can't wait to see what the structure looks like when it's a level or two off the ground

Amazing shots there Nick! The scope and scale of this project hasn't been seen since in this city for a long time. The site looks crazier than Vista or Trump were

They appear to be probing (installing ?) right next to the last section.

^^^ Wonder if they hit something? Perhaps they ran into a large glacial erratic?

Or maybe a huge block of concrete with Jimmy Hoffa in the middle of it?

Do the foundation guys ever use ground penetrating radar? I'm not sure how deep that can look. But a big hunk of rock sitting inside the clay layer should show up.

I may be misunderstanding the question, but I thought I remembered someone saying this will have a secant wall. If that's the case, then the cored sections will overlap one another as this appears to be. From the little experience I have with deep foundations, I think those cores are usually done in a "every other one" sort of sequence and then filled in as sequentially required.

Great photos. Truly informative. Really appreciate seeing all of them.

The hole in question is a small borehole, about the size usually used for soil testing, from the angle I'm not sure if it is where one of the secant cores will be, or right next to it.

Urbanizer dropped this in the Tribune Tower thread, seems to show a new rendering of this on the site aswell.

I personally liked the setbacks as they were, hopefully this is just an old design.

Lots of activity today.
1. The red crane is new, not sure what it's for
2. It looks like some of the caisson drills are up higher than normal, drilling the second story? (I have no clue)
3. Ton's of trucks, one after another, are coming in to the site to get filled with dirt. Each truck is getting about three big scoopfulls
