Mouais... More of that kind of spandrel glass to remind of the 1960's.
I was expecting something sleeker, disappointed by this one.

It doesn't seem pitiful after all.
If you look closer, glass seems thick like some triple glazed window, which is some high-end insulation, everything but cheap.

Some contemporary French utilitarian nature within myself is just telling me that this ain't too bad.
It's just not any latest fancy design over here, but who cares here?
I bet you'd feel better about it...

We have too many fancy buildings that you'd badly envy over here already.
More than enough.

The dark building by Norman Foster's firm should've been 10 times as tall.

And that pitiful fake building on the right in the foreground should've never been built.
It looks like a disgrace, a mere insult in the middle of the real older buildings.

This may be seen as complete by now, no longer under construction.
I'm adding a few pics to let people on here know.

I really like this one. It has a sort of Norman Foster or Richard Rogers-esque quality to bringing the structural and functional elements of the core to the exterior. My only two gripes are the grates on the left side of the core not being a consistent color (that will age very poorly) and the fact that the architects were way too ambitious in the renderings of the greenery on the right side of the core. Otherwise, this is a really nice use of the space and a pretty great stuctural accomplishment.

Something residential along these lines, called Bosco Verticale in Milan, Italy actually worked.
I think it's even worth posting it on here in case you wouldn't have seen it yet.

However, it has always failed in Paris so far, despite the promises of a number of renderings.
You'd end up thinking some developers and architecture firms have been into some gross greenwashing.

The couple of residential buildings in Milan must require a special treatment of sorts that was never actually or seriously tried over here.
The result is effective and convincing to their Bosco Verticale anyway.

^ Yeah, there are some really good examples from southeast Asia as well with pretty lush greenery on buildings, so it's certainly possible. Maybe they just need time to grow out.
