That is one very interesting building! Instead of a spire, the Mandarin appears to sport a crowning "blade" that cuts north-south in parallel with Peachtree Street. And the lower of those two funky angled protrusions creates a sort of awning over the front entrance. It's impossible to dislike the height or the density this shoe-horned project enhances. I like it.

Wow !!!

I am impressed !! I like it. Tons of style !! More ellaberate than Chicagos' Version. That long line that comes to a curve at the bottom looks like it could be a cool roller coaster ride or free fall ride !!! lol, I love it. More style for the ATL Skyline when built !!!

Congrats!!! I like it!!!! Atlanta never ceases to amaze me. You guys seem to end up with some of the best looking projects in the country. That will look very nice along with the other signature towers in Atlanta's already impressive skyline.

It still needs to be approved by the city, but we can sure keep our fingers crossed! It would be excellent not only to have the tallest building built in Atlanta in probably 15 years, but to have it across the street from others that will get under way soon: the 2-block 12th and Midtown development that includes 3 40+ story buildings, the first phase of which is a 725,000 sq ft office tower and a hotel + condo mixed-use tower. Having these buildings, coupled with the towers already lining 14th Street, will make this area incredibly dense and certainly push the city towards its goal of creating an urban retail and destination district along Peachtree St. in Midtown.

Per its original DRC meeting, there are a few zoning variances that need to pass before approval, including impermeable surface coverage increasing from 85% to around 88.5%.

Please build this beauty for all us who hate the mind-warfare boxes being built in our own cities (cough).

WOW...nice building. This area is going to be special...I just hope that the clubs in this area are able to stay, and not get pushed out by developers.

From this morning's Atlanta Business Chronicle:

It mentions that they are still in talks with Mandarin Oriental, but that regardless it will be a 5-star hotel operator. Mandarin would seem natural, since they are moving their US headquarters to an office on 10th Street. Also, it provides a few more details:

Residences: From $1 million to over $10 million
Spa: Dramatic, 3-story spa starting on the 20th floor and overlooking the Atlanta skyline
Groundbreaking: Early 2008
