DUBAI | Atlantis Hotel | 22 FLOORS

I was not sure which section of the forum i should create this thread in, however this section made more sense to me so ..

People are starting to take tours of the place and even book rooms, i think its officialy open.

I know this is a copy (almost) of the one in the Bahamas, but i would like someone whos been to the Bahamas one to tell me how the interior compares to this one in Dubai.

Woah looks just like the one I been to in Nassau. Only difference is that its missing the cool Pyramid with the steep water slide that goes through a shark tank.

I've been the to one in the Bahamas. As far as interior goes, it's pretty much the same deal. However it seems the complex as a whole in Dubai is smaller than the one in the Bahamas. I know in the Bahamas there is essentially an entire island dedicated to the resort; 'Paradise Island.'

They did a nice job with this one though. I love the location; is acts like the focal point/gateway to the Palm Island. Well done.

Fire at Atlantis Hotel

On September 2nd, the huge fire broke out at the new luxury hotel Atlantis on the Palm Jumeirah, just three weeks before opening.

The fire broke out in the lobby in the morning. Hotel owners told there was a limited damage on the roof and the dome of the lobby.

All workers were evacuated and no guests were staying there that day.

The opening of the Atlantis resort is still scheduled for 24 September 2008 and will be the first hotel to open on the Palm Jumeirah.

Looks like their opening has been a little rough...

THE world’s poshest new hotel was yesterday branded “Fawlty Towers” by fuming Brits — after the taps ran dry, along with its BARS.
Holidaymakers who flocked to be among the first to stay at Dubai’s £750million Atlantis claim they are being left for hours on end with no water.

The ropey plumbing means LOOS fail to flush and SHOWERS do not work.

Meanwhile guests keep getting stuck in dodgy LIFTS.

In the bars, rows have erupted after all the beer and wine ran out.

One raging mum paying a whopping £800 a night for a suite warned: “If the Beckhams stay here they’ll be disappointed.”

Dad John Walton — who saved for more than a year to treat his family to a week’s stay — said: “My wife was in tears.”

The retail manager, from Leicester, told how the couple and their two daughters were even woken by maids bursting into their room at midnight to vacuum the carpets.

John, 45 — who is on holiday with friends — said: “I’ve had better service at a Travelodge. It’s farcical here. What kind of hotel runs out of water?

“It’s like Fawlty Towers — but at least with Basil’s hotel you weren’t paying through the nose to stay.”

The hotel, with stunning water slides and aquariums, is on man-made Palm Jumeirah island, where the Beckhams have a villa.

Last night Atlantis offered families who complained a free week.

It's insane how they managed to open on time after that fire.
Obviously they're having massive teething problems as a result.
