Bonus, I made a 3d model of this tower, the structure is 100% accurate.

^ tk for the tko -- you da man -- thank you!

so the crown is three sections and will probably take a bit longer than i thought.

i was hoping to be able to check out a massive, impressive crown up close on a flatbed truck before they hauled it up there, oh well. although the pieces of it should be interesting.

I made a mistake, there will be 4 "blocks" on top of the roof

In the 2nd photo I see 9 levels in the spire. Are they true floors?

Such were the words that ran thru my head as I began to imagine what if the crane/scaffolding assembly connected to 111 right now were part of a multi-skyway/ob tower feature that got value engineered early in the process.

Semi-Relevant: As much as it doesn't bother me one way or the other, IMO Smith/Gill's biggest mistake with Nordie's was a lack of forward thinking in spire design.

I mean...Imagine what you see constructurally on 111 right now architecturally extrapolated to an already 1,550' silver monolith.

I'm ready to see how this turns out...

https://www.lobsintl.com/project/111-west-57th-street

Quote:
The lighting evokes jewelry at the crown and shimmer down the cladding of this very feminine and graceful tower. Dynamic changes to the lighting are linked to the lunar cycle and visually connect the crown to the ground level.

L’O scope includes the façade lighting for both the new tower and Steinway Hall, all terraces, performance spaces in Steinway Hall, amenities areas as well as millwork in the residential units.

Looks like the tower crane is not going up straight in that last picture : I guess it's an illusion created by the setbacks...

lol. yeah, you can tell it is the same if you look at where the anchors meet the building.

(Older pic) The building in the center was once the tallest residential building in the city...
