Well the initial picture that was doctored was not done well and based in no fact. The developers have all moved the above ground power lines to the back of the properties unlike some in Dallas, Houston, Key West, or NOLA. To cast this as a local problem is ignoring blaring facts or just to be annoying a public forum.

Perhaps you should be more perceptive. I can go on...

I guess you forgot who I am, Sir. Obviously it's you who don't understand, Sir. Obviously the images were an exaggeration. Your visual observations of local development are so blinded, it's not even funny.

Guys, this isn't really something that you can solely blame San Antonio for. It happens everywhere. Also, it's not the job of developers to bury the utilities, it's the city's job, but again, this happens more than you might think all over.

Here's a Google streetview map showing a residential project in Austin that has been completed for a few years now. We've been waiting for the city to bury the lines, but they're still there.

https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2591...7i16384!8i8192

There's another project going up right now across the street from that one, and although the city is planning to relocate/bury the utilities as per the permits we've seen, they haven't done it yet even though construction has started for the building, and it looks funny seeing the poles standing in the city's right of way just inside the construction fences.

This one even shows the power lines next to the residential building I mentioned above.

They are making progress on the excavation and it looks like a crane might be going up soon.

maxus, you were right. You proved it. Thank you for doing so with facts and in a respectful manner. I apologize on behalf of those who jumped on you.

Let's keep this forum civil and inviting for everyone to state their opinions. Please. That way it will continue to be a place to learn and discuss, as it should be.

Right? The building is not done yet. When it is, we can all look with our own eyes & see if there are utility poles there or not. The pics he posted may have been projects in which the streets were NOT tore up.

This seems like a Texas thing.

FYI like the Credit Human building, I highly doubt that the Jefferson building or the Graystreet project will be keeping any utility poles.

Hopefully there won't be any poles when the project is done, or soon after. We'll all find out eventually.

It's very expensive to bury power lines, even as part of new construction, and even more expensive to bury them retroactively.

Don't expect to see power lines and poles disappear anytime soon.

Let me express apologies to Maxus on behalf of this site. There are some on this site that are simply intolerant to any whisper of a critique of anything going on in San Antonio.

You came up with the win today, sir. Well done and appreciate the examples. Never really paid attentions to the power/telephone lines in front of the buildings till now. Wow, what an eye sore...
