[SA] I-35 & Walters Improvments; Including New Walters Street Overpass Renderings

I-35 and Walters Street Improvements


Details:
  • The Walters Street overpass bridge on I-35 will be widened and improved. Improvements include an aesthetically appealing design, added main lanes as well as the installation of turnaround lanes.
  • Walters Street from Runnels Ave. to the Fort Sam Houston entrance gate will be realigned, widened and improved. Four lanes will be added as well as pedestrian corridors on each side and bike lanes.
  • I-35 will have its entrance and exist ramps reconfigured; a turnaround will also be added at at&t Parkway.

Yeah, the entire stretch from downtown to BAMC needs this type of upgrade which I'm sure is planned with the developments slated for Fort Sam and BAMC (soon to be SAMMC).

WOW!

A nice addition to my home neighborhood!

I always hated walking over that bridge, even though it's the same as N. New Braunfels and Pine's bridges-- it just feels less safe and more ugly.

This is good but about time. I usually take walters instead of att parkway to get to the Spurs games. turning south on walters from the access road is always so cramped I have to go slow while turning from the inside lane because the cars on the outside are very close and I always feel like one is going to hit me.

If this design is implemented on 35 from BAMC to downtown, I'd rank it ahead of the design of 410 near the airport.
