^ if drawings aren't completed till early 2012, I would guess late 2012 at the earliest.

Given the shoestring budget, I wouldn't get all excited about this one though.

sweet, nice to hear - that is somewhere between 330-350 ft then I'd assume, correct?

great to hear, looks like its on track for some serious 2012 construction (finally)

@chadilliac
it sure is taking its time to get off the ground, but i think viking explained this earlier in the thread how there were some issues that hampered it a little bit. No worries, we'll have a few cranes next summer (alt hotel and heritage) so you'll get your Winnipeg fix

Awesome to hear! and 330 - 350 would be awesome.

Would be great to have another hundred meter tower in Winnipcoo!

It's residential. 300 feet is expecting too much. 250 is being generous.

Easy there buddy... it's a architecture forum, not a 'be an asshole for no reason' contest.

It will also be a very large building by floor space. Including the podium and parking structure it will be over 400,000 sq ft.

Ah yes, good call. I forgot residential stories are not necessarily the same as hotel or office space stories

well, here's hoping for 250ft!

This is really neat to hear. Should be a good, and welcomed, addition downtown. What, are you designing it now Biff?

I know it's putting the cart before the horse seeing as it hasn't been tendered, but any guesses on what this thing might cost to build?

Good lord. That could be $80 million. Hard to imagine.

I really hope this gets built, although I can't see the revenue generated by rental income paying a mortgage that big. If it can be done, great. I believe that neighbourhood would respond positively to one or more upscale buildings.

Perhaps it will be 50/50... residential and condos... or at least a partial condo component.

I believe their budget is between $60 -70 million.

It's amazing to think of the power of inflation.

It probably costed less to build the TD tower 20 years ago.

It's even harder to imagine a time in the late 60's / 70's when Martin Bergen was building one of these a year.

Apparently this building will top out at 25 storey's and approximately 271 ft. Looks interesting but i will need to see a colour rendering and finish materials to form a complete opinion. More glass than i originally thought. Not a Vancouver glass condo by any means but not bad. As it has been said before the townhouse condos at the base could make it or break it depending how they address the street.

That puts it in about the same height as the Radisson Hotel or the Investors Group HQ building, which isn't bad at all for our skyline

Thanks for the update Biff!

Utterly impossible to build a finished, 400k sq ft building in 2012, with parking and land, for that price.

I realize they are a different but MHP was what, $400 psf in 2009 dollars? CMHR is what, a $trillion psf?
