The hole is just larger than the elevator core at 115 feet. The building diameter is ~twice that at 218.

This building looks great, like it belongs underwater in Atlantis somewhere, which makes it all the cooler that it's right beside the lake.

Some plumbers were over here a while back, and even they were talking about the Spire! The workers constructing this must be proud of what they're doing.

It appears that Case has completed or very nearly completed their contract, which it seems was limited to caissons, the ramps to/from LSD, and the bathtub surrounding the site (slurry and secant walls). I would think that the mat pour would be next, but Shelbourne has not announced signing anyone to continue the work as of yet. Perhaps someone with knowledge of the process can comment on whether the mat is a solid reinforced concrete block or whether there needs to be utilities run from off-site through the mat first, which would greatly complicate (and delay) matters.

Anyway, this seeming inactivity is slightly worrying me. Was Kelleher's original game plan to start foundation construction to show he was serious and generate sufficient sales to then secure loans before continuing? He is a risk-taker, for sure. But how much of his own net worth is he willing to tie up in this project?

Next steps will take a few months - but you won't see much going on. CASE should wrap up in about 4-weeks.
Then the entire neighborhood will be getting a utility upgrade - and all the wiring, etc has to be done.
Second, work at the bottom of the cofferdam for utilities and elevator shafts. Nothing sexy for a while.

I think that would mean that the mat has to wait until the work at the bottom is done. Then again....???

As far as the inactivity goes. It might have been hard to do the utilities while CASE was still working. I guess it was better to wait until CASE moved out so they wouldn't get in each others way.
Though as far as getting in each others way goes. I never really saw any of it whle working. Seemed the iron workers, carpenters, surveyers and concrete people always worked pretty well together. Once floors started going up we all got in a rhythm. Of course, I'm sure the superentendant must get complaints all the time. Are there any horror stories out there?

Just a minor clarifying point: With regard to "delaying matters" -- if it's part of the project plan it's of course not a "delay" in the sense of falling behind schedule since that's what's supposed to be happening at that point in the schedule.

The transformers boxes ( I believe that is what they are) under lake shore drive on the western side had been utilized by the nearby townhomes, but they installed new ones. I don't know if the service has been switched though.

Will the parking garage extend underneath the parking ramps?
