Ha! They took the webcam down before the fire would show up on the delay.

It will be interesting to see the fire department's investigation into this. If it's arson... oooh boy.

I talked to an eye witness. He says the construction workers were all there trying to put a small fire out with extinguishers, but it got away from them. They were wood crates with something very flammable inside. Probably petroleum based on the black smoke.

Yes, i can barely wait for Regina Police Service's usual understated pearls of wisdom on the matter....."police are calling the blaze......"suspicious!"".

I saw the black smoke driving to work from the northwest end, but by the time I passed the stadium site on Saskatchewan Drive about 8:25 am, the fire seemed to have largely been put out. Sounds like an accidental fire, hope it's just a minor blip on the schedule since the materials were stored outside of the stadium.

Various photos from Rod Pedersen & myself from media tour of new Mosaic Stadium. Now 41% complete. 250 workers onsite.

Heard from a reliable source that one of the test events next year will be the U of R Rams vs the U of S Huskies. Lower bowl would be open with about 15,000 seats available.

Does anyone think it is odd that PCL is claiming 41% completion. I am not expert, but it seems like there is an awful lot to do like:

finish excavating;
the field prep and turf;
roof;
most of the west and north sides above ground;
all the structure the seats are to be bolted to (I think these will be precast);
33,000 individual seats;
all the interior finishing;
exterior;
much of the mechanical, lights, scoreboards, etc;

and much more.

^It might be 41% of the structural. I agree there's no way that includes the finishing.

I could see them being 41% complete when looking at the duration of the project (11 months out of 27). But I question the dollar value matching that progress.

41% seems like quite a jump when the RRI twitter feed announced that they were 27% done as of April 9th. Seems April and May were good months.

Being that this is a P3 project, I don't think the dollar amount matters.

Being onsite, 41% complete is plausible.

A couple small tidbits. There will be a 2nd webcam up soon, this one facing north located south of stadium. Also there will only be 2 video boards, one large one in the NW corner & one massive one in the south end zone (larger than the current one at Mosaic)

I heard the south video board will be the largest in Canada.

Keep in mind that 41% is often a dollar value expressed as a percentage complete. My projects are done this way and while it is a bit of a bell curve, it is often front end loaded.

Concrete and foundation work can be some of the more expensive parts of a project (I think Regina projects have had comments about the cost of concrete in this area). Timewise as well though, hings can really start rolling once a structure is there. Can't really do anything until the bones are present.

That is too bad I was really hoping for one in the NE Corner as well.
