[SA Metro] New "North Central/Boerne College", an Alamo Community College

Not too much available on this school yet. Almost $2 million was spent last year for new sewer lines. ACCD received bids for land clearing this month. Boerne has championed this new campus for years. It will be the ACCD's sixth campus. ACCD paid over $12 million for the land so I expect to see a fairly large school.

Here are a few photos of land as it sits.

Isn't this over the aquifer? How's it getting by with no opposition?

Adjacent to the campus, Post Oak Development (same guys building Cresta Bella near The Rim) is developing a 109 acre property dubbed Balcones Crossing. It includes 12 acres of commercial development along I-10, and 129 half-acre home sites.

I guess technically, but it should receive as much opposition as Stone Oak and the areas North of 1604.
Doesn't Boerne have some sort of TT program?

It's over the contributing zone, not the recharge zone. From what I understand it's the recharge zone where runoff and other issues have to be much more carefully managed. I think this should be good for residents of Boerne, Comfort, Pipe Creek, Kerrville etc. who have long been commuting to schools well into town.

I didn't know there were plans for an ACCD campus in Kerrville. That city is already home to Schreiner University.

I found the site; it is for Junction, Fredricksburg and Marble Falls.

When I was in Kerrville last fall I saw a banner at a middle school that said something like "Alamo Community College Satellite Campus".

They established a "training center" which is a step down from a community college. You can take core courses and "career advancement" classes, but cannot obtain even an associates degree.

Isn't (or wasn't) there a plan to get it fully accredited or up to the same level as the other ACCD schools? I swear I read that somewhere.

I seriously doubt they keep the name "North Central". Northeast Lakeview was called the Northeast Campus before they opened the school.

It looks like land has been cleared and an entrance roadway into the property is under construction.

I know it kinda takes away from the NC/BC of ACCD but I've read recently that Floresville is going to be the first "early" campus in the state. The program starts in the fall.

Spoke with PR at ACCD. As of now the project isn't funded and no construction is expected for the next several years. In other words... nothing about this project is set in stone.

Perhaps that roadway under construction is for a new subdivision? That would explain the new sewer line installed last year.
