Finally, we have a thread for discussing Dreamscape.

A very ambitious proposal to say the least.
However, I am somewhere between an optimist and a realist
If this could ever come to fruition, This would be a huge tourism draw and a way to keep a fair portion of people in Manitoba spending money here vs. elsewhere.
I also know when The Ghermezian family first built West Edmonton Mall, opened 35 years ago, Edmonton had less than our population now boasts.
They also built Mall of America and many others.
West Edmonton Mall has a current value of near 1 Billion CAD.

I recall the days at outing hearing people say that MTS Centre will flop and Jets will never return etc... True North will never happen..
Well, all and hopefully SKyCiy will show them we are changing for the better.
So, time will tell.
Dream Big or stay small minded.

For comparison's sake, a few years ago the Property Assessment of my former home at 59 Donald St. was worth more, $1.5 M.

It's now assessed at $4.5 M

It's technically more like a dome then a building. So different codes.

Stepping back from the construction and financial aspects of Dreamscape for a minute, I think assembling 500 acres in or near Winnipeg for a reasonable cost could be a big enough challenge in itself to kill this project.

For reference, I created these images from another site on what 500 Acres would look like in comparison to downtown Winnipeg, and Boeing's assembly plant in Everett, Washington.

OK serious question, what would be more realistic? Dreamscape as pitched or new world's tallest in Winnipeg, like beating out Burj Khalifa by 2m, that kind of thing.

Dreamscape should have its own NHL and CFL teams. Then we can have our own subway series, like NYC (assuming the Bombers and Jets ever make the playoffs again). We will then truly be big time

With all due respect, the projects you mentioned and this one are not remotely comparable.

A 500 acre dome would be 1600m across. The current largest dome in the world is 300m across.
