It has been moving quickly, you can clearly see the progression from p.g.'s photos on May 24th to mine yesterday (May 29th). That looked like the second level to me as well, and as nativeguy pointed out, it indeed is.

I haven't paid attention to this since the first renderings. Great to see it being constructed in full swing. This area along with much of SOMA is really picking up. I love all the new developments going on here.

That was very insightful.

I'm glad that that crappy strip-mall thing with the crappy chinese buffet is gone. This is a necessary replacement.

It's not gone yet--you can see the back of it in the picture above. Charming, isn't it?!

Hey, some of us still live there - it's actually a decent affordable place to live. ( not everyone in this town makes 6 figures or wants 6 roommates just to live in a pretty building ya know?)

I'm guessing you won't be sorry to move into the new version, though (in spite of your disappointment at having a bathtub ). Am I right?

I'm counting the days. Mostly cuz I'm tired of doing battle with the mouse under my stove. ( although I think the recent poison purchase may have worked)

That is just about what it has seemed they are doing. And it fits with the schedule I've read--that the building would be ready for occupancy in early 2010. It means it will be topped out a year from now and that would give them another 8 or 9 months to finish the glazing and interior.

The residents plaza area adjacent to the new building will likey be where the parking will be because it is elevated two stories so I think the parking will be underneath. I'm glad they raised it up so high from street level otherwise it would be a plaza full of homeless people. Even still it can be accessed from mission. I guess our pushy rude security guards will still be around though.

No not at all...thanks for posting those pics as I can't figure out how to do it.
Today i went for a look and since yesterday - now they have the concrete floor done on that level shown... I hope they keep moving this fast... and i hope i get a good apt choice when the time comes ( since my family has been in sf for four generations - i really do think I should get first pick - before all the foreigners who have a whole family living in a studio) oh well. On another note I found out this interesting bit of info... You know the feds took away section 8 money from people living in public housing when they found out they were here illegally - and in San Francisco - the city stepped in and is paying for them to remain in the housing with our tax money. Meanwhile legal citizens are on waiting list a mile long. Our supervisors should taken to the public square and flogged. WHAT are they thinking?

Try clicking on the "Quote" button and you'll see how my post with the pics is constructed. Basically, everything between is the url of the picture. With my Mac, I can copy that by pressing "control" and the left mouse button simultaneously with the cursor on the picture. I'm sure there's a similar way with a PeeCee.
