I like the tower design, something similar to what you would see in Vancouver. I think it would be a great fit in Winnipeg

^ maybe we are looking at a different tower - but the one I saw didn't look a thing like the "skyscraper-lite" Vancouver style.

The one I saw looked bulky, squat, and flat. So basically it looks like any other 25+ storey structure in Winnipeg...

It reminded me of that cylindrical skyscraper around Robson St. in Vancouver. The other, squareish glass building also looked Vancouveresque, but in a Hong Kong sort of style. This new one doesn't at all, IMO. Looks more North American.

No they are not looking any longer and have committed to renovating their existing building. They will stay right across the street for some time.

I did a cylindrical office tower (& Hotel tower next to it) for downtown a few years ago for a First Nations client (St. Mary b/w Smith & Garry) ... it will probably never come to be now that Governance House is being built near Polo Park. The design was inspired by a vision of 3 towers by the Chief ... the 3rd tower is implied by the landscaping kiddie-corner to the library.

I like it a lot C Visit..

Why did they move the Governance House proposal to Polo Park?

It would seem logical to me to have such an office either downtown close to other provincial / federal agencies or along North Main as part of a revitalization effort; where a large Aboriginal population can be found.

Do you know if Governance House still going to happen?

Ahhh, C Vist...you're the one who did that proposal from a few years back. It would have looked nice in that location.

Governance House is still progressing. I think it is in the $30-$40 million range and Number 10 is designing.

I agree, I am extremely disappointed with the location. However, although likely not very close in proximity, it will (kind of) keep the Blue Cross building company in the realm of good design.

Just out of curiosity, how many workers is it supposed to hold, roughly?

^ The guy who did the rendering was really good but only had the weekend to do a model that was based on my sketches, so I thought it pretty good for the time that was spent on it. He was based in Regina but passed away last year.

Its never too late, they haven't stuck the shovels in the ground just yet so why don't an agressive developer lure them downtown with the cvist design. I am sure our abundants of parkings downtown can make a great site for this or better yet build it on main by higgins. I am the sure the land is cheap there.
