The trees on the middle and higher floors, if they are actually added to the building, will be dead within a year. Extremes of temp, wind, precip, and lack of nutrients ensure this fact. It doesn't work. When will architects stop this crap?

I asked the same question, and found out that trees are a rendering/archi trick to bring out certain design elements. Such as arching windows or set backs.

I don't think they would put trees. I mean they could... they'd just have to move them inside or shelter them when that bastard Polar Vortex fella returns for his revenge. He always comes every winter, just as that groundhog wakes up from his sleep on February 2nd, because every February 3rd of the year, he overdoses on a gallon of Gin and NyQuil.

Wow...now both block long behemoths are going up over street level at the same time... when is 3 Hudson Boulevard joining the party, and to your best info with the bit of a bump back up in size how many stories/height?

To see two big boys going up is incredible... 3 with the other Manhattan West tower will be off the chain cool!

Always good when two super talls are racing against each other.

3...2....1...GO!!!

The CPT/111 W 57th race, and now, 50 Hudson vs the Spiral.

Unreal. That's an amazing shot.

Imagine traveling back in time to, say, 1905 or 1910, and then going up to New Yorkers and showing them that photo.

I'm not even sure what 3 Hudson is going to look like when completed, there always seems to be a new rendering popping up. Same design for a decade, and then the floodgates opened. Whatever the case, it will be at or near supertall status, so pretty big along with these two.

I think the Spiral was on some sort of expedited construction schedule. So they may jump in the lead, but many things can happen, including stop work orders and construction delays.

It's an impressive site. More so when you consider everything else going on around it.

Too recent. If you showed that exact photo back in the year 100, they'd probally think you were divine revelation. A god among men. They would build statues and worship you.

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Peerson.

That's how alien that photo would look back in the year 100.

But even now, compared to 120 years ago, the city looks alien in a way. Such dramatic change. It would of been their version of what the future would of looked like. Who knows what the next 1000 years might look like, assuming this city is still here.

3019: New York today launched the opening of its first 10,000 foot tower.
Amenities include a rooftop transi-port terminal for quick flights to the lunar orbital hotel.
From there it's a quick jaunt over for their scenic Martian vacation.
