Time to begin to once again lobby the Provincial Government to complete the Federal Building Plaza as envisioned...ie. skating rink.

No kidding! $375 million project to create a public place and they leave out the piece that activates and animates. Why cross the finish line? The picture above (existing) says it all. No people, cold, barren.... all that's missing is statues of Stalin, Lenin, maybe paintings of Mao and Pol Pot.

I would also be thrilled if they got rid of the two, ugly parking barriers along the sidewalk at the 110 St intersection. Guessing they have them to protect the sprinklers and to stop cars but they should be able to find something more attractive.

Considering the ideology of the government that built the thing, Mussolini, Dubya, and Hirohito would be more fitting.

Awesome!

Proposed zoning changes for nordic spa near Fort Edmonton Park
August 28, 2019

Edmontonians are invited to a drop-in engagement session to learn more about proposed zoning changes related to a nordic spa at 7000 143 Street NW.

Date: Wednesday, September 4
Time: 5:30 – 8 p.m.
Location: Whitemud Equine Learning Centre Association, 12504 Fox Drive NW

The City has received a proposal to add personal service shops and increase the flexibility for restaurants and specialty food services use in a portion of the River Valley Activity Node (AN) zone. The addition of these uses to the zone would facilitate the development of a nordic spa adjacent to Fort Edmonton Park. The proposed changes would apply only to Appendix 1 of the zone, which includes only the Fort Edmonton Park and nordic spa sites.

The engagement session will be an opportunity to learn more about the proposal and share your views with the City and the applicant, B&A Planning Group. Feedback will be summarized in a report to City Council for decision at a City Council Public Hearing.

This is great news. Was just at the Banff hot springs and love me a soak.

This takes it to a new level. And right in our backyard.

They should put one in Strathcona Science Park on the opposite side of Rundle Park. They could use the heat from gas flaring at the petrochemical site to heat up the water.

Disappointing, but perhaps a superior location can be found.
