Well even Vancouver & Edmonton Canada's 2nd & 5th busiest Airports in Western Canada still doesn't have Delta Airlines to Minneapolis MPS, US route resumed yet since it both got suspended in 2020 & Saskatoon service is unlikely to before both of them.

Would be big surprise *if* it resumed before Vancouver & Edmonton!

Currently in Western Canada only Calgary has daily flights ✈️to Minneapolis through out the pandemic.

The Sunwing & WestJet Airlines sun destination international flights ✈️will probably be resuming 1st likely for Saskatoon & Regina.

US airlines like Delta & United will still take longer before it resumes to Saskatoon/Regina - good example of it since Edmonton YEG Canada's 5th busiest airport in Western Canada was allowed to resume international flights August 9th 2021 it still does Not have US airlines flying there yet since it got suspended 2020.

In Western Canada only Vancouver YVR & Calgary YYC has US Airlines nonstop flights through out the pandemic!

Edmonton is not scheduled to have any US Airlines flying there until March 2022 & changes to it could still be possible depending on demand & pandemic situation.

Regina is on the hitlist too.

I'm guessing they continued with YYC due to the Delta / WestJet tie-up?

I just find it hard to believe that DL would simply ignore YEG (I'm an ex Edmontonian and have flown to the twin cities many many times when they served 2 or 3 x daily on an A319/A320).

As for YVR with hundreds of Pax arriving daily from Asia and the far east, again it makes no sense to me...

DL seemed reluctant to reduce service to Canada unlike UA which was happy to chop service and won't be coming back to some airports for quite a while. DL kept running to YWG right through the depths of depressed pandemic travel until Transport Canada forced them to stop by channeling transborder flights to the big 4 airports... they resumed operations as soon as it was possible to do so. I would be pretty surprised if DL didn't resume operations to YEG/YVR very soon if they haven't already announced plans to that effect. I'm guessing YXE would not be too far behind.

Great news! Hopefully this will force Air Canada will reinstate non stop Edmonton flights from Regina.
Well looks like Flair Airlines will be getting competition on Edmonton- Regina & Saskatoon with Swoop Airlines as it is starting 2x weekly flights ✈️ June 2022 doing the Edmonton- Regina and Edmonton-Saskatoon also.

Basically Saskatoon & Regina is a market for low cost airlines & leisurely travel similarly to Edmonton!

I think WS is trying to keep it more premium service on the routes into Calgary and the extra "low cost" capacity through Edmonton.

I would expect the WS service to Calgary is secure.

This is unfortunately true. As a long-time AC flier I only wish they'd operate a direct Q400 service to YEG from YQR. It is *SO* much easier than the bus-route through YYC. I usually just fly on WS when I have to.

Swoop operating this route is purely to compete with Flair though. Have they ever expressed any interest whatsoever in the SK market previously?

Yep 👍 agree! Also Air Canada Saskatoon & Regina, Saskatchewan to Calgary flights ✈️ are pretty secure on the (AC) Q400/CRJ competing with WestJet (WS) on it✅!!

Though AC Edmonton- Saskatoon flight is not too secure & possibly could be cut if there’s no demand, as they are currently scheduled to resume it May 1 2022 *if* it doesn’t change, will see.

With Lynx Air planning to start up sometime in 2022 and also based in Calgary,Canada like WestJet.

https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/new-ultra...gary-1.5668306

Calgary-Saskatoon & Calgary-Regina would probably be the most likely destinations to Saskatchewan for Lynx Air Boeing 737Max,as WestJet (WS) and Air Canada (AC) could use some competition on both routes.

I'm sure it's on a 737, but honestly, non-stop on a Q400 beats a connection on a pair of 737s anyday.

It has to be on a 737. I wouldn't take the illustration on a social media post too literally.

I know I know, it just struck me as funny.

Now if WS would only launch a route YQR-MSP direct...
