Love that one.

I think the farthest spots I've seen Toronto's skyline from with the naked eye are at King Rd. coming down the 400, at about 34km from downtown: https://goo.gl/maps/bP6umtJQ5rw7Nkin6

And across the lake from the QEW, at a distance of 52km: https://goo.gl/maps/hxGFaCMTsJbVeUKX6

They don't show up well on streetview, but are a bit more visible in real life, at least on a clear day. Unfortunately, being that they're highways I can't really stop for a better shot.

Downtown Detroit is visible from Auburn Hills, over the horizon to the southeast (streetview Sep 2015). Find that office tower next to the e-way in Troy, zoom all the way in, and you can clearly see the crown of One Detroit Center and the general silhouette of the Ren Cen beyond. About 27 miles, which is impressive for relatively-flat Michigan.

^ Agree. I've definitely seen similar views of Manhattan + Jersey City + Brooklyn from various spots in N.J.

That's Rego Park, not Flushing. Flushing is a few miles north.

Pretty cool pic, though.

Where was this taken? It looks closer than 70 km/43 mi. I have a picture of Toronto from exactly the same distance - 43 miles - from Pekin, NY, and you can only see the tallest of Toronto's buildings.

Looks to be taken from the Niagara Escarpment west of Milton, which is closer to 50 km than to 70 (also technically it's southwest of the city, not northwest).

Thanks. I knew something was wrong about that.

Detroit can be seen from across Lake St Clair at the tip of Harsens Island. On an another note I came across a piece of interesting information while trying to find a better view the Toledo skyline can be seen from the observation deck at the Guardian Building.
