This is emblematic LA architecture, where hamfisted architects try to make up for a lack of fine grained urbanism by throwing up multiple facades and materials to try and simulate it.

Ouch. If you streetview on Google the surrounding area, there is actually quite a nice urban environment in place.

True, here it's more like a hamfisted attempt to do contextual/transitional architecture. But you know what I'm saying about the usual LA architecture.

I agree, and several more similar looking buildings would be nice. It's a nice balance of design and being profitable.
