It's kinda cool to hear that. Its not a terrible building but I'd like a bit more striking design. Sorry if all of a sudden I seem to be hating every new design. I'm just a tad bit jaded with the 21c and T Stacey falling through. Those two projects were exceptional buildings in its style of architecture.

I never felt like we really got a clearly defined proposal for the 501 Congress/T. Stacy proposal. It changed design several times and some of the renderings did a poor job of showing what it might look like. It felt very "concepty" and un-concrete.

The 21C project, though, yes, that one falling through still hurts. Whitley is nice and all, but that tower they had planned for that site was one of the most interesting designs we've seen yet. The 2nd plan for it was less interesting, but still awesome since it would have been quite tall.

Tom never intended on building that tower. He was, at that time, simply trying to increase the value of his property for possible future sale...which happened this year to Stream (who, as a company, does not have a history of building tall/dense CBD towers).

In hindsight, I believe Tom spent too much time and money obtaining new zoning on the block (site). That's all I can say at this juncture.

CVC determination filed (this is the 200 block request, not the 100 block request that was also filed).

The CVC determination request for the 200 block is for West 5th. The Magellan tower is proposed for East 5th and Brazos. If it's the 200 block of East 5th rather than the 100 block, then the two CVC determination requests are for unannounced projects.

To sum up the East/West confusion about the developments on these four adjacent blocks on 5th St.:

200 W 5th – Unannounced mixed use office project
100 W 5th – Lincoln Properties 16-story Office Tower
100 E 5th – Unannounced commercial mixed use project
200 E 5th – Magellan Development ~50-story hotel/residential tower

I think the Lincoln Properties 16-story Office Tower
is on the West 200 block of 5th/Colorado. And the 100 E 5th block (5th/Congress) is just the Stream Realty remodel of an existing building.

You're right. The Lincoln Properties tower is the SW corner of that intersection. I was thinking it was the NE corner which would have put it in the 100 block.

Wow, really? Yes, I'd say that's a very good sign.

I love developers who just come in and push forward full steam ahead on their projects. It's a good change from those who delay and delay and delay. Hoping this is true. This project has really grown on me.

asides from that, what is going on today in atx? there seems to be lots of foot and vehicle traffic in downtown and soco.

The first pic is from a Canon Vixia HF M41 camcorder. Most of the other pics taken today were with my old Canon A640 10MP. It's a point and shoot, but does the job for now.

Still waiting on the 2nd video to load and then I'll post them.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing a life-less single story downtown building with a surface parking lot being demolished!
