Maritime building to be converted to timeshare:

https://www.theadvocate.com/new_orle...e2b0386d6.html

Seems to me that the demand for hotels is still outstripping supply. Makes it all the more annoying that the Convention Center hotel is asking for so many tax breaks. I know it's not the best location, but it's not bad for business travelers and those who don't want to be stuck in the middle of the madness on big festival weekends.

Harrah's has been fairly quiet on their hotel proposal. I wonder if they are still working on brokering a deal with the state. That could be a good way to get some funding for infrastructure without having to shift hotel taxes.

Maritime is another wisznia property like the saratoga.. the plan from day one for both of these was to convert them to condos or hotels or tiemshares when ten years was up

As far as harrahs i think they have done a horrible job overall and hope the state puts the whole thing out for rfp... we can and should get so much more for these facilities... not just monetarily but development wise. their stewardship since the late 90s has been sub par at best.. personally i find the staff is rude, the quality of the FBO poor and lacking any sort of exciting execution... the fillmore didnt even happen until this year and thats a direct lease with the state anyways.. Harrahs was actually paying a multi million dollar fine every year for not utilizing the second floor...

Well in the context of our housing crisis - including having had friends evicted from these buildings in the CBD - it doesn't feel right.

Don't you worry the City Council's decision on STRs will soon address the housing "crisis". Look for the of price multi-family homes to drop and the supply of rentals to grow dramatically come May 1st.

its called market forces and economics.. you want cheaper housing make it easy to build more... not really rocket science!

I just dont understand the point of it doesnt feel right? why should it matter what feels right to you? Are you the owner ? did you invest your own personal capital into these projects? Just a really pompous thing to assume your views are somehow supposed to be valued in a private, market driven economy! Unless you are personally investing in these projects I dont think anyone is interested in what feels right to you. Frankly, the market can care less!
