Frost was a weirdly proportioned building when it was built, but of course at the time we were all just thrilled to have broken the 500' level. It always needed another 100' to have the slender profile it should have and to have a lasting impact on the skyline. In 10 years it will effectively be completely lost to larger buildings. Which, I guess is progress.

That really is a great view there, and We vs us is right, it's interesting the transition from the Colorado Tower "stepping up" to 300 Colorado to the W and to the stairs of Northshore. Somewhere behind Northshore and to the left of the W Hotel will also be The Republic poking above. So yeah, it's really a shame that Frost doesn't get to poke up there being that it's probably our best pinnacle even if won't be anywhere near the tallest in a few years. It's still one of my favorites, of course, but besides that, I consider it to be a tallest worthy design anyway. It's really a shame that it'll be way down our list of buildings eventually, and hardly noticeable on the skyline from certain angles.

I really like that photo, the angle, reflections in the water, the wall of buildings, but Block 185 is certainly going to change the dynamics of that photo with more cover ups to come. That's what happens with density. At least walking around town will be cooler with all that shade that comes with it.

I really like Block 185 in certain contexts. Alone, on paper, it's a unique building, solving some exceptionally difficult problems with its lot. And it will be unique in the city, too -- there's just nothing like it anywhere -- maybe even in Texas. But one of my complaints is that it doesn't fit with the skyline that's developed there in Greenwater over the last 5 years. Right now, it's organic, has some flow, feels like most of it belongs together. I think 185 is going to look jarring in that context -- kind of like it will have turned it's back on Northshore, and closing off what looks like Northshore's wide open arms. I'm hoping that's an overblown concern on my part, but all the renderings I've seen haven't really changed anything.

I mean -- that lakeshore view is becoming more and more our calling card, and I definitely want it to get awesomer, as opposed to the opposite.

Most of the buildings in Greenwater are kinda meh for me. Northshore is the exception, of course, which happens to be one of my favorite new buildings, and obviously, 185. Austin Proper has interesting elements, but together, that building bugs me. 500 West Sixth (the G) also has nice elements, but again, overall it's kind of a big glass box that gets lost in the crowd for being basic overall. It's a nice building, and I actually really like the crown day and night and other details, but it's kind of dark and that stuff goes unnoticed sometimes. And then there's Third & Shoal which is a whole lotta meh except at night, which I admit, has one of our best lighting designs.

I really wish that 500 West Sixth had been slimmer on its north south facades, taking up only a quarter of its block, instead of half, and taller by at least 100 feet. Then they could have developed another residential tower on the last quarter of the block on either the east or west ends of that lot. I will say that I do love the way it reflects Northshore in its facade. It makes for an interesting scene.

And to think, functionally none of those buildings were there in 2005.

No kidding, here's to hoping the boom continues! I don't know if the CVC allows for any more buildings the height of 6x Guad, but some more of those guys would be nice

Nice progress. Its bigger than I envisioned, even from the renderings. In just 5 more floors, this will start to be a neck bender.

It's funny I remember being really excited about green connecting the two halves of DT back in the day and it's reeeealy worked out well.

Now we just need the republic/post office site to develop and connect DT across Guadalupe
