2006/07/05 (news from the developper's site)

At present, the Construction Project Jasper Tower is in progress and on schedule. The details of the construction are as follows:
The reinforced concrete core tube of the main building has been built to 21F;
The core-tube periphery steel structure of the main building has been built to 16F;
The steel frame carrier plate of the main building has been built to 13F;
The lightweight sand block structure of the basement has been completed 95%. The construction of grooving for pipelines has started as well;
The embedded parts of the main building glazing wall have been conveyed to the spot in batches; wielding and anti-pullout experiment has also been conducted; some parts have been embedded too.

The year of 2006 is a structure year for the Construction Project Jasper Tower. Its major target is to make sure that the construction structure will have been sealed by the end of this year. When the main structure is under construction in accordance with the prearrangement.

...

It no doubt that the design and the construction quality of the Jasper Tower curtain wall has great influence on the overall quality of the Construction Project Jasper Tower, the upgrade of the whole construction and the integral embodiment of the original intention of the design. So the design and construction of the Jasper Tower curtain wall is enormously difficult and complex with a view of embodiment of the perfect blue print. To ensure a smooth construction of the curtain wall, a good many detailed projects are needed to guide the further design and construction for the next step during the period from May to August. The project department will cooperate with the curtain wall contractor, the design institute and spot management department, reasonably arrange the schedule, figure out the specifics and solve the problems found in the curtain wall construction item by item with the spirit of ants gnawing at a bone, so as to make sure that the further design of the curtain wall will be completed earlier and then can enter into a substantial construction phase.

Could anyone post some renderings of this tower? All the photos on the first page of this thread are dead.

I'm just realizing that by 2008, there are going to be a SHITLOAD of giant towers, panelled with extremely reflective siding. I wonder if walking through LuJiaZui will somewhat resemble walking through Han's lair of mirrors in Enter the Dragon.

The glass roof is an interesting feature. I wonder if it'll be accessible to the public.

^ It better be.

When I look closer at the rendering it looks like there are multiple floors exposed under the glass roof. I wonder if there is going to be some sort of open business plaza up there.

imo, Jasper is tied with Bishopsgate (London) as the most promising highrises currently proposed or u/c.

It looks like a greenhouse.
I guess that some kind of filter will be used to keep the temperature under control.

Wow, this tower really is one of the best skyscrapers under construction in the world right now! If not the best.

It reminds me somewhat of a taller and even better looking Tour EDF (which is one of my favourite towers in Europe) in La Défense, Paris.

It even has the nice large almost column-free spans.
