Great building real tall too, just towers over 21st Century Tower, world's tallest residential building.

So are they building the one in the first pic or in the second? I would prefer to see the second one built myself, it just looks more unified and streamlined.

^ The tower will match the first rendering. I also like the second rendering, Jono. I wonder why they changed it.

is very bizarre that the redesign would look that much worse... but either way it is good to see this rising, and it seems to be doing so at a pretty fair pace

So this supertall is ready to rise. It'll be really thin though.

Yes, it will only be as wide as the buildings to the right and left of it, but will be almost 3 times as high!!!

^After seeing how big the adjacent towers are, it seems like it'll be even more impressive.

I don't think it'll be as big as shown there. It seems oversized

Or... maybe it's the other two buildings that are undersized. Compare the palm trees in the real photo and those of the rendering.

That's an amazingly small footprint for a tower that tall. This will be interesting to watch go up.

On another note, are there any plans to develop towers in the immediate vicinity, but off of SZR? For example, are there any plans to build towers on the street at the top of that picture? That would create some depth to the SZR skyline.

Yes because behind those we will have the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) which will have some towers.

I like this rendering a lot. I wonder how it will look in its surroundings. Hopefully it's in an area where it will compliment other highrises in the area.

Here's what'll be just behind the hotel. The render shows some of the towers that'll actually be there such as the hexagon shaped one but not everything. It's gives a good general idea though.

Also don't forget in the backround will be the burj dubai development and business bay. Here's a render that shows the masterplan only (of both)
