Damn, how does someone get outside on the Jin Mao Tower? Do you have to have some kind of special permission, or is there an outdoor observation deck up there?

There is no open observation deck, this is just a view from one of the many corners of the 88th floor.

So that picture was taken from inside? They must have very clean windows...

BAD NEWS : I think this is the final rendering for the Development Tower. It has been shortened to 239 meters, 46 floors (completion date : march 2007).

Can somebody reading chinese confirm ? http://forum.cameraunion.net/showthr...7&pagenumber=1

Reunion on the plot pix :

46 floors is lower than the Shanghai Bank building, the tower will probably just be 200 meters high. The new 239 meters height must include the spire

Shorter than the previous project but a great design. It should form a nice pair with the Jasper tower.
I only hope the disastrous Merryland Building (under construction just across the street) won't reflect too much in the glass.

On this rendering the tower looks higher than the HSBC, so may be it will really be 239 meters high (not including the spire).
But scale in renderings... it's hard to conclude by now.

From the cameraunion forum, a bigger and more detailled rendering.
A corner building indeed, I'd liked to see the other angles. Great podium too.

The city in the background of the last rendering is Frankfurt.

Probably Frankfurt did not buy it and China did. Anyway this building is now under construction on that Lujiazui plot.

It's dissapointing to hear the height of the tower was shortened. Good design though.

Thanks for the update.
It's a whole group of towers that will rise simultaneously.

What is the name of the building rising left of HSBC-building in the background of the last picture?
Have anybody information or renderings about it?

It looks like they are working on the foundations. You can see the main crane being erected in the center of the site.

Dec. 26

Torch, that building is called CMBC Tower. Check it here.
