Man, I love Iron Hill Brewery. Typically I turn my nose up at chain restaurants (local or not) but I just can't there. Their King of the Hill Club is a great deal too.

Big fan here too, I've been a regular at their second location in West Chester 5 minutes from home since opening day 20 years ago & was happy when they opened up another location a block from my office in Media a few years later; I frequent the Wilmington waterfront location as well from time to time when work brings me there. It's truly one of the great local success stories & it's obvious why every time I go, their consistency and attention to detail is spot on, beer and food-wise. This new location is just perfect & really puts this company over the top, & with Philly being one of my favorite destinations Iron Hill is now represented just about everywhere I spend significant time. Congratulations to the ownership, those guys are the best!

Now I hope the next move is to resurface Market Street and it's crosswalks. Lookin' a little ragged

Ha! I was thinking of the same, and maybe add some trees and other plants. Small investment of this kind does some big wonders.

They do have planters around the buildings. Also there will be a garden on top of the Wawa but I don't think it'll be open to the public.

Demo permits have been posted for 1101 Chestnut, the monolithic Art Deco garage on the 1100 block of Chestnut. Why is this posted here? National Real Estate Advisors owns that parcel, and plans depicting the future phases of the East Market project have always included future buildings on the 1100 block of Chestnut. Looks like this may happen sooner than later!

Big news. Based on how quickly these guys got started with phase 1 I wouldn't be surprised if this is more than just securing permits (the article seems to imply they're just taking preventative measures in case of an historical designation).

Wow, that's going to do wonders for the eastern side of Chestnut Street. Things have already picked up considerably along that stretch as of late. I was on a date at Porta about two weeks ago, and I couldn't believe the level of energy around there. Adding this level of density on the 1100 block will only increase the level of street activity on Chestnut, Market, and all of the surrounding numbered streets!

Side note: at this point, the city should really consider closing 13th Street between Chestnut and Locust to vehicular traffic.
