Discovered this development when I went to the website of the architect for the 300 Houston Street mixed-use project.

I think a development like this needs muddy spaces between the concrete sidewalk slabs to let little bits of grass grow through it-- that's a minute but aesthetic detail that would go a long way.

A cheap bit of roughness that's evocative of the way it used to be.

Is this project a done deal or just conceptual?

As an aside note, does anybody know what has become of the old Lone Star Brewery that is near here? Any plans for that place?

it does make more sense to see the development explode there first - land prices are lower and the re-use potential is high. plus, there is already a vibrant community that has adopted this lifestyle there.

The proximity of established park space is great, it might lead to a clean up of the area and renewal of the parks (roosevelt and concepcion.) Also the location is great especially if "our" LRT maps ever come into play.

This is fantastic! Especially the proximity to other developments including the Lone Star.

SA is now up to one quarry (Quarry Market and the golf course), three breweries (SAMA, the Pearl, and Lone Star), one power station (mission road) and grain silos (Big tex mixed use)

^^^Don't forget that Fiesta Texas and the Rim are also quarry redevelopments, as is the new NEISD football stadium.

Also, the Quarry on the northeast side that will become not only a sports complex for NEISD but also a huge green space with 17 soccer fields and a large first of its kind special needs park.
