Maybe they're paving it

I heard they are building a large dome over the entire site for a self-contained city.

I would like to see the city expropriate some frontage from all the empty/surface lots on Graham, so we can widen the sidewalks and waiting areas for the transit corridor. It's already so cramped and we don't even have a single full RT line in service yet.

Fortress

Great article in the Globe today on Fortress looking for huge fees to help receiver extricate the investor’s funds from their projects! It’s estimated at this time the 1st mortgage lenders may not recover their funds and everyone behind them may receive nothing. Tens of millions of fees were taken out front with nothing left. It’s outrageous.

Isn't this pretty much what Simplicity said was going to happen, years ago?

Any moment now, tacheguy is going to come on and say how much he misses simplicity, and you’ll go, yeah! And then i’ll go no, not simplicity.

He also said D-Condos would never get built and downtown doesn't have the population to support a convenience store. Not to mention he was a belligerent asshole who lacked the ability to not only admit when he's wrong but accept anyone's opinion on subjective matters that differed from his own.

Haha calm down, guys. Even if you don't like him you have to give the devil his due, he was dead right when it came to Skycity.

Sometime like skycity should happen sooner or later I think. Right now it’s a bit early, or probably Fortress was just being not reliable.

Such quick progress on 185 Smith shows downtown living is heating up imo, and as mentioned there are other “secret” proposals going on. So I guess it will not be too long until we see a new tallest?

But tbh height is not always the most important thing, something at those 2 parking lots with tons of street scene will also fill the gap well

Was D condo proposed like 2-3 years ago? If that’s the case it’s been a long time, and I believe nowadays people change their views quickly
