$168 million.

BCIMC wasn't very good at managing a hotel chain. The delta flag is suffering. Selling off the brand to Marroitt is definitely a good thing. Most of their properties I've stayed at in the past five years are sorely dated.

I was just thinking that Marriott has a couple of properties in the downtown area, with a couple more proposed. With the flag purchase, Marriott could possibly not be interested in the 7 tower, leaving BCIMC looking for another flag. Or Marriott might possibly cancel one of their other proposals. Or they might forge ahead with all proposals. Who knows?

The way I see it, going forward with all three proposals may be a bit too ambitious for Marriott, especially considering this year's economic climate in Calgary.

No height data? The tallest one I counted around 34 floors on so that puts it around 100 meters.

Sounds about right. I like how the building heights decrease towards the waterfront, even though Tallbob would prob disagree lol.

I was under the impression that a couple of these buildings were in the 40+ story range.... without having to worry about Shadowing!

Don't want to jump the gun but they've been removing that short perimeter wooden fencing over the past few weeks and have submitted their BP awhile back. Can't think of any other reason other than construction starting soon that they'd remove the fencing as it was in good condition.

Some new equipment at Concord across the street too. Eau-Claire has some big gaps to fill.

I didn't know they had submitted a BP already. That's good news.

So are they starting construction with just the one tower?

Quote:
Eau Claire West
Norr Architect has submitted an building permit application for “Eau Claire West”. This is a seven building development that consists of a hotel, restaurants, retail space along with 1100 residential units. The site is currently a surface parking lot. The overall project is estimated to cost $713.2 million to construct.

As this project will be submitted in phases, this application was for Tower W4 which is the biggest residential tower on this site, consisting of 266 units.

The next tower building permit application is anticipated to be submitted in February.

Gotta start somewhere. Why wait for BP drawings to be completed for more towers to get going.

Wow that is friggin exciting! I imagine the next BP will be for the hotel tower. I had heard months ago that they had secured JW Marriott.

I'm assuming they're planning on excavating the entire west lot at once while submitting individual BP's in the interim as they're finalized?

I wonder if they will ever release a full slate of renders. All we've ever seen are a couple of 620 pixel shots. No detail at all.
