Embassy Suites

I have several photos of all the buildings being built, I just don't have the time to make a flickr account or something like that, because I want to watermark my images, and all that stuff.

Embassy Suites, I'm pretty sure broke ground yesterday. I had lunch at the Miliam Building Diner, and I know the manager of the building, he pointed out to me that they closed the parking lot across the street, and they would be building a 16 floor building, he said Zachery is the construction company, and there renting the 11 floor in the Miliam to keep an eye on construction. Also there is a construction truck, making a hole in the parking lot already. I remember someone posting that were almost out of cranes in the downtown area, well thank goodness, it looks like were getting a crane soon for Embassy.

Does anyone know when Piazza San Lorenzo will start construction. I walk by the site everyday, and there is a rendering in the window, next door to Subway but that project was proposed four years ago, and still nothing.

Hey guys, lots of new interior pics of the Grand Hyatt are at grandsanantonio.hyatt.com

Check out the view from the hospitality suite!!
If you look at the fitness room picture, you will notice something strange about the Drury Plaza - the big sign has been photoshopped out of the picture, as has the Holiday Inn sign - why, because they're competitor hotels ahahahaha

Oh, and the Texas Ballroom looks ridiculously huge.

Overall impression - really stunning interiors.

Good news about the Embassy Suites, I think it's going to turn out real nice, I hope

Is there any visible construction work still going on at the Grand Hyatt? I was wondering if they're still doing some inside touch ups. Anyone know?

You can see most of the balcony doors open and many of the balconies are unfinished (on the condo floors). I think they are touching up inside because some of the glass is covered from the inside.

it is that covering that gives the glass such a noticeable green glow at dusk. greenish windows with big white sheets hanging in them...

the occupied units are much less consipuous on the skyline.

The glass will likely always have some kind of covering for residents who want some privacy haha...

thanks for the link to those photo....wow.

you're right - the place is huge. they also have some a few fake room set-ups since none of the rooms have long walls with interspersed windows looking northwest....check the photo with the "antorcha de la amistad" in it...i think that is nice computer work.

Nice renderings. That's a pretty narrow hotel there.

I would have preferred it white, instead of another earth tone structure. But I do like the front, it looks good.

It looks great, and it is a great addition which will add more density to the area. I went to School at St.Marys Catholic school which was razed for this project. I remember playing football on top of the roof and enjoying the great view.

I like it. sakyle04, can you post the source of those renderings? What was the copyright name on those? I'd like to see about posting them on Emporis with the owner's credit of course.

Nice. I gotta say... Austin is winning the So-CenTex race for height and modernity, but SA is winning in terms of retaining a cool, classic feel.

ya, the attention to detail they seem to be paying to the st. mary's street side of the building will hold up nicely over time.

I know there was some discussion around here about a downtown SA farmers market. Well, looks like you have to crawl before you can walk.

MySa.com has a new downtown blog and it has so far covered everything from the emerging main plaza farmers market to blue star serving beer in main plaza to first friday stuff and more. should be a nice new link to the insides of DT SA.

I didn't know Justin's Ice Cream opened a place in Main Plaza. I need to pay better attention.

I wonder if the family is thinking of opening more around town?
