I guess so.

I can't remember just what was there prior, due to the 'sketchiness' of the 'hood. I don't hang around there.

I thought it was "the Bargain Store" but it and Red Apple have the same corporate owner so I could be wrong.

There was also some sort of overstock / salvage clearance place in there for a while.

And over at the NoFrills in St. B this morning, an ongoing (for how long?) issue of heat.

Given the frigid conditions (-27 C) outside, it was fairly cold shopping for groceries in virtually all of the aisles because the doorway area lets in so much cold air.

If feel for the checkout people who had their Winter parkas on just to keep warm.

Yes, there are ceiling-mounted heaters above them, but they don't do much to maintain a warm environment for the workers.

Thats been a grocery store since the 60’s (remember Economart) and the cashiers have always been there.

This must be an ongoing issue. I remember it being unusually cold in there when I brought someone shopping there several months ago.

I wonder if this is a "no frills" and not that one location issue because I was at the one on Main/Inkster twice in the last 2 weeks - and both times, cashiers were complaining about how cold it was, they were wearing earmuffs, and having to continually switch who had to work next to the doors because their toes were freezing...

The No Frills has been cold for some time now. I think there are ongoing renos behind the scenes. Maybe related to an issue with the heating system. Everyone was wearing their jackets while working.

Maybe I'm all wrong. But there is/was definitely something wrong. Not just the doors being open. There is a vestibule just like every other store.

Both the St B and Main/Inkster No Frills staretd life as Economart locations. It would not be surprising to see them using an overall similar layout.

I wonder if it has anything to do with Bento being the sushi stands in Superstore/Loblaws... maybe they want to separate the brands?

The old Marina style Safeways were just as bad at the front end for being cold.

The doors would open on a busy day and a cold cross breeze would sweep across the checkstands from north to south or vise versa depending on the wind.
