Most would say thats insulting. I dont think so, I think the New York New York Tower somehow respects and admires the Chrysler Building without ripping it off. It makes a wonderful addition to the everchanging Chongqing skyline and you can see the building has some fine and intresting detail!
And like the Chrysler, it provides a distinct spire over the skyline.
Often imitated (e.g., Cathedral of Learning, Chrysler bldg), never duplicated.
Although the Freedumb tower looks like shit in NYC and Tianjin alike.

that general design isn't unique. Trump proposed something like that for NY long ago and there are some building around the world that already used that shape in the design.
the shenzhen wtc for example, which btw, is a wtc and was completed in 2001, long before the final NY 1WTC design.
The former is more aesthetically pleasing IMHO! I cannot believe all the "twins" associated with Pittsburgh buildings. Speaking of Pittsburgh, I saw all thsoe other turn-of-the-century hotels and office buildings (like the Fairmont up in Canada). I think we can include Pittsburgh's Omni William Penn Hotel in that mix as well.
That South Korean church that looks similar to PPG Place, well if that isn't a slap in the face then I don't know what is...
