nope, mancuso. The idea was to keep the tower, demolish the base and turn the square into a traffic circle. The idea was deemed too expensive and thus shelved - thank goodness.

Other terminal vistas:
Philadelphia 30th Street Station
Transamerica Pyramid
Philadelphia's Wachovia Building (down an alley street but an impressive view...maybe I'll share it one of these hours).

Atlanta actually has some interesting versions of this along the Peachtree Corridor. Since Peachtree has such an interesting progression, there are several buildings that appear to be street terminators that actually aren't. I'll try and snap some photos on my next trip down.

the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne is an amazing sight looking at it from the north. You can see it from the other side of the CBD, all the way through to the beach at St. Kilda, it is perfectly symmetrical for many kilometres through the city.

I couldn't find any good pictures, ill post some when i get some good ones.

Detroit's Fisher Building (Albert Kahn, 1928) appears to terminate 2nd Ave. when it reaches West Grand Blvd. (it resumes a half a block east)

Picture was taken during Comerica Taste of Detroit in 2006.
The building on the right is Cadillac Place (former GM World HQ, now state government offices).

I would say that MASP in Sao Paulo could be an example, although it does not terminate a road seeing from Av. Paulista its address, but for the point of view of Av. de Julho road, center side half, it could terminate it, even the Av. Nove de Julho pass trough a tunnel to the other side of Av. Paulista Hill. This is quite an old photo but the museum shows a good example. I made a better updated photo today, but I don`t have idea and possibility to post it here.
Here you are.
Here an arial view. You see the Av. 9 de Julho going though the tunnel where MASP Museum on the top at Av. Paulista terminate it.

I remember driving down Park ave in my parents car when I was a kid and thinking what was going to happen when we get to that big building at the end. I thought the ave would go through it haha

It does go through the Helmsley Building right in front of it and around the Metlife Building and Grand Central before returning to groundlevel.
