The BC Lions continuous ticket price raises year after year, including a massive jump from last year to this one, is why I went from seeing 7 games last year to 0.

Season ticket prices were flat and included a new entry price zone at $25

Last years "tagged" price was ticket price + (then add in surcharges, facility fees, etc. ) and you had your price. This year if you look, it is an "All-in" price so it is flat.
They also introduced a Green Upper End-Zone seat for $250 for 10 games - so $25 a game

But, believe me they need to do WAY more for in game experience and promos for seasons ticket holders and I believe they will.
I just got a survey asking what would improve the game day experience, would you support a co-ed Cheer Team (like Edmonton has), what do you want to see for half time shows.
On top of that there is a season ticket holder prize every week for 10 weeks leading up to one person winning a Nissan
I think they realized the f*cked up big time last year, lost a lot of business (some to the Whitecaps, other non-sporting events) and need to work their asses off to get that support back

I never had season tickets, I bought the "Family Zone" tickets for $30 each ($25 the year before), including taxes. They got rid of that this year, making the cheapest tickets $38+tax I believe. While my own lifestyle choices certainly played a role as well, this 25% price increase didn't help. Of course everybody's individual circumstances are different, but it's pretty clear that the elimination of these zones didn't help attendance. If they wanted to artificially constrain everybody to the lower bowl, raising the prices doesn't come automatically with that. In any case, I don't think you can disregard it entirely as one of the factors in the Lions' declining attendance.

Thanks for pointing out the new season ticket prices for 2016 though, I may actually look into getting those this year!

I agree they need to do something for the more casual fan and encourage families. I know they did a promo during back to school where you could get 4 tickets (2 adult and 2 kids (up to 12 I think) for $60. Only problem was no one knew about it, it was only really promoted in schools which meant your 5 -12 year old had to let their parents know about it
I think they need to go back to the Safeway or 7-11 tickets like they had a few years ago

With the Bombers having the ultimate nice-guy coaching combo of O'Shea and LaPolice vs. the Riders going with Chris Jones, we'll have a real-life test of whether good can prevail over evil next season. I have to admit that I'm not too hopeful.

I find it incongruous that a guy like O'Shea, who was as tough as they come as a player (16 year CFL LB, second on the all-time tackles list), could be so seemingly mellow as a coach. Compare him with Kent Austin, who often looks like he'd be prepared to strangle loved ones right there on the sidelines if it would give his team an advantage.

There must be moments where O'Shea yells loud enough to strip the paint off the walls in the locker room and strike fear into the hearts of players, but we don't see that side of him in public.

I'm pleased with the LaPolice hire, though. Letting him go in 2012 was a mistake.

Some people have quiet intensity. Some do not.

Sounds like Calgary Asst. GM John Murphy is also coming to Saskatchewan. He was one of four finalists in the GM race.

I honestly think that the Tim Hortons' Field giant steam whistle is powered by Austin.

Those aren't headphones he's wearing on the sidelines - they're steam collectors!

Here we go, 12 hours after we discussed it on here, the CFL has addressed the lack of historical data available and new information starting next year.

I read somewhere that Jones' strength was building through American players and I thought that seemed kind of incongruous when the Rider's identity, it seemed to me, was to have Saskatchewan stars on the team.

But as I look at the cuts most of the national players survived them.

Saskatchewan players are a "nice to have"... when the province has barely over a million people, it's tough to build a team on local players. The Riders have done a good job of having a couple of local boys on the team in recent years, but if I'm Jones I'm not really staking my job on that. Finding more guys like Gene Makowsky or Brendan Labatte is not a given.

I'd much prefer a co-ed cheerleading team. This is 2015. And it's super lame. All female just ends up being scantily clad pageant girls prancing around for straight men and lesbians. It devalues the league. Want to see dancing girls? Go to a strip club.

I had an Argo cheerleader come to my section who expected a big cheer from our section when she batted her eyes. I told her that all 8 rows from me down were gay so she could take her sex show some place else. We were there to watch football. And yes, I belong to a gay football league.

Jones is going shopping for better players ---- that is a guarantee. Next year, the Riders will be a wrecking machine.

The Riders' tackling "skills" were MOST dubious this past season; it sucked.

Tackling throughout pro football has deteriorated greatly over the years. I saw some absolutely awful attempts in last Thursday's Bucs/Rams game.

But the Rider DB's took it to another level of terrible this past season.
