I'm grateful that somebody else went to the trouble of compiling all of these and more screengrabs.

I'd be remiss if I didn't point out the 1960-73 Checker Marathon taxi about to roll past the Vega in question. Not too many made it to the west coast. Maybe the studio got a deal on a used one for an NYC-based series? Really should be in yellow livery, though.

It was a really hot day in August, so everyone sat around drinking refreshments while my uncle went from car to car spraying this greenish goo.
As the afternoon progressed....the tint, that my uncle had just sprayed, began to slowly slide (drip) down the windows in undulating waves.
After that I mostly remember a HUGE fight...and everyone taking off in their cars.

My dad always said it was like we were riding around inside an aquarium.

The word I meant was Penafore. (a collarless and sleeveless dress) ...sooooo I might have accidently led you astray CBD.

I should have just stuck with "huge dresses with petticoats." (I'm 99.9% sure..that the petticoats go underneath!)

Quick! someone find me a photograph of a turn-of-the-century woman climbing the damn steps.

Hi Ethereal:

Pardon if someone else has already answered your post about a "Penafore"...the correct spelling is "Pinafore." "A collarless and sleeveless dress." You may have heard of the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta "H.M.S. Pinafore."

As far as cars go, there are a few that pop up in a lot of episodes but one seemed to show up in just about every other one. A silver Chevy Vega that was said to be owned by one of the crew members is the culprit. Here's just a taste, with a few mystery locations if anybody feels so inclined.

I've clipped out images one and four, but image 2 is next to LA City Hall on Main. It pretty much looks exactly like that now. Image 3 is on Roadside Dr. in Agoura Hills between Chesebro and Kanan Roads.

Mason in Malibu

Not so much a mystery location...

Edsels everywhere, even as the brand was being killed in the fall of '59

The address reads "1417"...but one of the Perry Mason sites says its 24246 Malibu Road, as seen below. Not sure if it's the same, but it could be...

Well done Gaylord, Hoss & Bill. Some of them were pretty obvious, some not so much and as Hoss pointed out, one location disclosed in the comments on the source page.
I'll add one more. Jimbo is actually driving the ratty VW seen here. He borrowed it from Pizza Dan.

Trocadero nightclub at 8610 Sunset Blvd, looking south from Sunset Plaza, Los Angeles

We can tell that this cool shot of the Trocadero nightclub on the Sunset Strip was taken in the late 1930s from the 1938 or 1939 Cadillac Sixty Special out front. That means that this photo was taken as the Hollywood studio system was reaching what is widely considered its zenith—1939 aka Hollywood’s Greatest Year—which makes me wonder who was inside the Trocadero that night...

Halloween is just around the corner so I thought I'd post this spooky snapshot that has haunted my morgue files for years.

old file / ebay?

To me, this looks like it was taken in Los Angeles.

...perhaps somewhere in the vicinity of North Broadway.

Just. A. Guess.

Qualitron Aero, Inc was at 3000 Clybourn Avenue in Burbank, part of what-is-now Bob Hope Airport. The buildings in the photo seem to have disappeared between 1989 and 2003. The aerial below is from 1972. I think that Jim's VW was about where I've put the "C" of "Clybourn".

Here's some confirmation. The owner has beefed up the pilings and the deck, but it's still much the same.

[source: zillow.com]

It's currently for sale.
"First time ever on the market for sale, built in 1956...only one owner." $6,600,000.

BTW, I love the large glass float hanging above the deck in the Perry Mason frame grab. That was a very popular design element in the late 50s/early 60s.

True, and I don't see any palm trees. Sad.

reverse

1910 Southern California Rentschler's Villa Residence

I'm not even sure if this is Los Angeles.

$6.6M, but only one parking space and no A/C.

It'll be a hard pass for me.

The only Rentschler in the 1910 CD is Rev Michael Rentschler at 4527 S Normandie Avenue. Given the number of small blocky apartment buildings in that neighborhood, I was pleasantly surprised to find Rev Rentschler's Villa still standing.

Here's a side view. At some point the porch has been filled in (probably not such a nice place to sit any more), but most of the other original features remain.

Yes! That's it.

You can also tell by the rather unusual high curb that surrounds the property. (just inside the sidewalk)

Good sleuthing Hoss.

Small world department. My mother's godmother lived in the building to the right of the building that is to the right of 4527 Normandie (she was in 4519 Normandie). She lived there from late 1978 to 1982, IIRC (she's long since been deceased).

Daily-ish Perry Mason

A few mysteries and a few non--

Not one but two '56 Birds passing by the old Knick

The old Hollywood Division, not long for this world...Paul in his '58 Bird again

I figured out the location...but mysteries are more fun, right?

?

Park Labrea/La Brea? Westwood? Like a lot of old films, Perry Mason often required required quite a bit of willing suspension of disbelief...once Perry
and Della got into building, it was of style not at all modern...and the elevator seemed to go only to the 4th floor...

Hotel Connecticut? Hotel Cedarhurst? ??
