So what you're saying it that the city should have gone for a nice cheap RLA designed library?

How do you construe that from my comment? I'm the biggest critic you'll ever meet of RLA, and I also believe in investing heavily in our public buildings and infrastructure.

I am just tongue in cheek commenting on the ridiculous inflation situation.

I think it was a joke based on your hatred for RLA. Better to always add a laughing emoji at the end of a joke though.

Shall we all start sitting on the edge of our seat to see if the exterior finishes are as advertised, or are the usual bait n' switch...?

I doubt they would ever do that to a public building.

The design of the Edmonton project was irredeemable, even if they had used the greatest materials on earth.

Fixed your video lined. When posting a YouTube video, only put in the part after the "=" sign of the link.

Ex.

Link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G0ZttyKjvQ
What you need to have between the SSP YouTube brackets - 2G0ZttyKjvQ

Walked around there yesterday. The building is looking impressive, I think the site was a good choice - it really seems to work.

Yeah its a really good site. I expect this location will provide us with really good vantage point of the river from the 5ft floor. I don't think the North East view will ever get blocked either.

I know there was a lot of discussion about whether this was the right site but I don’t know if I would’ve picked a different one even if the option was there. This building will be the first piece that actually starts extending our downtown built-area westward, and as Lebreton continues to grow it won’t feel isolated at all. I wish the connection to Pimisi station was better but that’s about it. Going wesbound on Albert you really get a sense of its presence and how it will one day be the start of a transition to a totally new city district.

For sure. Despite the skepticism and criticism, at the end of the day, this is a fantastic site. Really wish they would have better linked it to Pimisi though, as per DTcrawler. An enclosed walkway between the library and station, with indoor connections to all development in between and windows towards the train. Could have added a moving sidewalk as well for those with reduced mobility.
