No, you're not. The design has lazy street interaction. They should have added more walk-ups, and spaces for private gardens near the street.
Even though I'm not a huge fan of the design, this building on waterfront does a much better job at interacting with the street with a purely residential front:

So many better ways to approach this instead of the current walled off feel.
Also the street should be totally reworked imo, making it into more of a public space to represent the density that's now there.
