Region of Waterloo now at 5 (and 20th shooting), with one man dead and two injured in a "targetted" shooting in Kitchener at 4:15am Sunday morning.

I think 5 or 6 is pretty much a normal year in the Region.

Good news for Winnipeg, they haven’t had a homicide in over a month now.

Good news for Edmonton and Winnipeg! Calgary has also had a quiet year, though I'm not sure of the number...

You are at about 16-17 possibly.

Overall violent crime rate is down quite a bit nationally.

Sounds about right, lots more gun play this year but fewer homicides.

Looks like a Halloween house fire has been confirmed by WPS as a homicide making it Winnipeg's 42nd of the year, and the record breaker.

Wow 42 for Winnipeg! That's a really high number for a city that size in Canada.

Were the Bruce MacArthur serial killings counted in last year's total? That plus the psycho van rampage would have boosted the numbers quite a bit.

I would think those would be counted in the year(s) they occurred, not when he was caught. The Danforth shooting was the other one I was thinking of, but it was only 2 homicides.

Take away the Van attack and Danforth attack and we are still down 12 from last year.

42 murders for 800K + puts on par with a lot of US cities, what an accomplishment!
