These are from the Glenwood neighborhood area:

Most of those actually look great, some of the stucco aside. I spend a fair bit of time in and around there and I honestly don't know how you could possibly think that having these is negative.

I agree with you, most of these are decent looking it's the stucco ones that are horrible and can sympathize with the local residents not wanting them in this area.

I don’t think that’s an entirely fair characterization of people’s objections.

So what are the actual objections?

Just curious.

It is possible I may have exaggerated certain criticisms for rhetorical effect

Those Glenwood infill houses are beautiful.

Also, Councillor Mayes has complained that "half the street" on some blocks of Vivian are infill houses. Doesn't that solve the "tall house next to a bungalow" problem?

If I lived in one of those Glenwood infill houses I’d be complaining about how ugly all the non-infill houses are beside me.

Quite frankly they all look like shit, the real question is why the city overturned a lot split allowance of a 153’ lot into 76’ and 77’ lots when the norm for the neighbourhood was 75’, when the city has different sets of rules depending on the neighbourhood and who lives there, it’s a problem!

I guess we're all just going to keep rehashing the unfortunate Tuxedo situation as somehow an argument against infill in general.

Okay, terrible politics screwed up the Tuxedo situation. The only fair solution is to let terrible politics screw up infill in all of Winnipeg, or at least in infill that's not in the downtown (where, rather than blocking infill, we'll throw money around to get megaprojects off the ground).

Welcome to #rrskylarlogicworld; a place so dark and miserable that even the bright and cheerful rays of sunshine aren't able to penetrate the layers of crusty bitterness, and happiness is nothing more than Greek mythology.

The Tuxedo situation just shows how fucked up the system is and until the city comes up with an all inclusive comprehensive plan put all lot splitting on hold!
