The Great Canadian Montreal or Chicago quiz

So this was kind of fun yesterday, but in trying to follow up on MolsonExport's suggestion of a Montreal-Brooklyn edition, I found that they just don't look as similar as their scales and typologies might suggest.

Sure, the walkups and all that, but whereas Queens is just a little bit more visibly "New York" than Toronto, Brooklyn is quite a bit more than Montreal.

But then I thought...

Whether or not the cars have plates at the font gives it away.

Ah well, I'll leave 'em up just for interest, but that's a hell of a difference given Street View.

These are neat ideas for threads but, yeah, the license plate, or lack thereof, is a big giveaway. Black bar-ing all of them might resolve it.

4 does look a hell of a lot like one of those views you might forget about around Lincoln or something (the street name is also Chicago-like), while the part of Westmount shown in 8 looks a lot like Evanston.

I had thought 6 would be trickier, like something around The Boulevard, but I guess it's recognisably Chicago.

Chicago has very utilitarian fencing compared to Montreal

I figure no one is going to get #1 wrong. The architecture, the fences in front the yards and the boulevard with grass and trees in the median are all unmistakably Chicago.
