This project (Platform 16) is now under construction

Quote:
The proposed project, designed by New York-based Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, lead designers of Hudson Yards in New York City, includes the development of three six-story office buildings and below-grade parking. The three buildings are 157,000 square feet, 367,000 square feet, and 499,000 square feet respectively, and have views towards Downtown San Jose. Each building will feature floor plates ranging from 27,000 square feet to 90,000 square feet, as well as 15-foot floor-to-floor heights, and large private terraces on every floor.

Valleyfair extension opens today at 10am.

I'll try to make a video and take pictures of it after work.

Went to check out the expansion during my lunch break. I would estimate roughly ~25-30 new stores are open. I'm going to check back at night time to see all the new LED lights.

The new parking garage is open and it's still currently free. There's a HUGE underground parking floor too

There's also free arcade games on the 3rd floor of Bloomingdale's.

I absolutely LOVE how the outdoor portion of Valleyfair now helps connect Santana Row. It's still going to be a B to use the cross walk there.

I made a drone video of the newly opened Berryessa / North San Jose BART station. I will check out the actual inside of both this and Milpitas station either later today or tomorrow. Not sure if I will make an additional video of it. Cheers and have a safe weekend everyone!

Wow, that's probably a pretty far south extension of the downtown core if I'm not mistaken? Looks like there's nothing nearby even half as tall as this building.

If that's the address it's only about one long block from the nearest highrise, but it would be the southernmost tower in the entire downtown area and dwarf everything around it.

It's just a block away from SJSU. I have multiple friends who lived in apartments around that area so I would say it's a good spot.

There's 2 more towers that are planning to rise in the south part of DTSJ

I would say these would make for a great "entrance" to DTSJ if they are built. It's next to 280 freeway and planes usually fly in from the south.

I should note that Cityview Plaza was approved last week.

https://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/...-approved.html

Quote:
The council approved Jay Paul's site development permit application to allow the demolition of nine existing buildings at CityView and the construction of an approximately 3.79-million-square-foot office campus, which is set to rise in three glass towers. It also approved the project's supplemental draft environmental impact report (SEIR) and a request for 24-hour construction, which means Level 10 Construction, the project's general contractor, can work around the clock Monday to Sunday to build the development. Jay Paul would still need to pull demolition and building permits for the project before it can raze the existing plaza and break ground on its first of three phases.

If fully built out, the redeveloped CityView is anticipated to host upwards of 20,000 employees...

The developer's current plans call for five levels of underground parking offering 6,230 parking spaces and a 15-space surface parking lot to be built in three phases.

...
what I mean is what NYC2ATX was saying: it's in the middle of a neighborhood where there is nothing remotely this height or character. if this were part of some comprehensive plan to remake the area, or were more closely associated with the campus it would make more sense to me.

the dorm I lived in for a year at my university was half this height, and part of a complex of similarly-tall buildings, also blocks from campus, but its location in an otherwise mostly 2-story residential neighborhood I felt was also awkward.

So I guess that means the brutalist Bank of California building isn’t being saved?
