10 photos of snow in Shanghai

Shanghai is currently enjoying one of it's coldest winters in recent memory. The snow has been falling for a few days now, and I really have nothing better to do than take pictures of it from my apartment window. I'm not going out there unless it's absolutely necessary.
Who'd have thunk that it gets this cold on the 31st parallel?

Very nice, I bet it's a welcomed novelty (for now). We just had our first snow in two years in Tokyo last Wednesday as well.

Awesome, I took some similar pics from the cozy confines of my window as well.

I've got some too, but they aren't as impressive considering I only live on the second floor. :p

It is very cold out lately, that is for sure. I hope it warms up for the holiday.

Here's my neighborhood, currently an art-deco winter wonderland (for a larger resolution, well you should know the drill, click):

Awesome, I heard this was the heaviest snow fall in Shanghai in ten years.

Love your pics, guys. One of you should head up in the 789, Cloud 9 or Radisson SAS when the sky clears up a bit, and the snow is still on the ground. Who's going?

Well, giallo, with that view you don't have to go out. It's cool how the first pic almost looks black/white.

Especially given the latitude Shanghai is at. I think it's at the same level as north Florida or somewhere around there.

Somebody needs to go to Lujiazui green and take a picture of the Jin Mao and SWFC reflected in the pond!

Having only been to Shanghai in September (hot as balls), it's hard for me to imagine it with snow. Awesome.

The pattern-like roof shots are great. Are those townhouses expensive compared to highrise living?

Cool. I like pictures of pretty much any city in the snow but particularly cities that don't get much of it.

Well !! That's not exactly what I would call snow !! Few snowflakes here and there.
Here's what snow is all about :

Now, that being said ans showed, I can very well understand how you feel seing snow in Shangaï. We feel the same here but on the opposite it is whenever we have temperature well over 10celsius in february -which doesn't happen too often.

Nice photos. I'm getting increasingly excited about seeing Shanghai for the first time in March (assuming that everything works out and we get to head up there as planned). It looks pretty in the snow although, as yarabundi pointed out, there's snow and then there's snow.

About 80% of the buildings in my part of town are Art Deco (and most of these are officially protected as historic buildings as well), although it's hard to tell from the shots I just posted.

To answer your question, this is supposedly the biggest snow storm in 24 years...

...And this shite is STILL coming down!!!!

Staff, I'll try. Visibility is not good at the moment though. Hopefully, we'll get blue skies directly after the storm ends. That would make for some fantastic images.

Here are some new photos from last night
