If you've ever wanted Chicago to resemble Manhattan... this is as close as it gets.

Thanks for the comments. . . one correction though. . . the building that I was in was NOT Sherman Plaza. . . it was the Park Evanston two blocks east. . . sorry for the confusion. . . if at all. . .

'S ok. My guess was only somewhere in Evanston, so no confusion.

Nice pic.

yep, that's basically correct. the distance from the intersection of state/madison in the heart of downtown chicago to fountain square in the heart of downtown evanston is exactly 11.75 miles as the crow flies.

Holy moley! Thats a hell of a picture.

The three tallest northside skyscrapers stick out. Theres the the Park place (?) on Irving Park, the Park tower (I might have their names confused), and the new yorker - all over 50 stories I believe. I always thought that the new yorker was the tallest building in chicago outside of the loop, but it looks shorter than the park place from that angle. Does anyone know if thats true?

Anyway, way to get all those northside skyscrapers lined up with downtown. Looks massive.

at 531', park place tower on irving is the tallest building in chicago outside of downtown.

at 513', 5415 N. sheridan (the black triangle tower) is the second tallest outside of downtown.

at 461', the new york is the third tallest outside of downtown.

here's the companion photo to the one tom posted, this time zoomed in on downtown evanston from downtown chicago.

the highrise furthest to the right in evanston's skyline below is the park evanston, the building tom shot his picture from.
