thanks God that pathetic McFayden has lost soundly. Hopefully he'll be replaced soon.

This morning when I was walking to the bus stop, I saw an ugly, fat child walking alone in the street... while I was at the bus stop I saw him merge with a group of stupid people congregating in front of a run down warehouse. Then they started waving at cars with banners of a PC candidate... their sad faces were truly inspiring to vote for PC. I thought i was going to throw up.

Damn, another 4 years of Socialist Ideologies that's killing this province. Is it not too late to "frame" Doer yet!?

The NDP elected 36 members, equalling a record set by the Conservatives under premier Duff Roblin in the 1960s.

interesting.... Doer is one of the country's most popular premiers

Woo-hoo! Four more years of the youth in Manitoba in full flight to other parts. But hey, that's cool, the NDP is bringing in lots of refugees from the third world. Go Manitoba.

Im no NDP cheerleader, but a low unemployment rate, record housing prices, etc. do indicate that Doer is doing something right, but then again if McFadden had been elected everyone who ever left Manitoba would be moving back today, all taxes would be eliminated and all those fancy skyscrapers in Calgary would be put on hold and instead be built in Winnipeg!

I don't know why people give Doer the credit for housing prices and unemployment rates?

What did Doer do exactly to improve those things?

Record housing prices are happening throughout the country and Manitoba is still far behind BC, Alberta, Sask and Ontario. The housing prices in Manitoba have more to do with the federal economy than anything Doer did.

Rising housing prices is something Doer's government is trying to prevent.

As the province's economy improves, real estate prices keep rising based on the growing demand for quality housing, especially in urban centres. The development of Waverley West will provide more than 11,000 new homes, apartments and complexes. The Manitoba government's share of the profit from the land sale will be used to improve inner city housing in Winnipeg. The result will be more variety and greater housing choices for people at all income levels.

Again low unemployment does not mean much on its own. What is the participation rate, what are the wages on the jobs created, how many people left or joined the workforce etc. The reason this is important is if you create 10 min wage jobs vs 8 jobs at 100K a year, what is better for the economy and for people working.

Yes, you are right and this is another good reason for strong labour laws and easy union certification. If the Wal-Marts were unionized the jobs would pay more.

Or not open in the first place as it would no longer make economic sense.
