finally some notable progress on that garage. for months I have been walking by and not been able to see what the crews were actually doing. This building is horrible looking!

CDR Submission - 222 hotel rooms/ground floor retail - 15 floors - 200 FT

Nice design honestly. Sad that the max far here would allow 30 floors and 400 FT and they're doing half of that, but I won't complain. It's certainly better than the garage there now.

Looks nice. But curious why the brick is on the northside (on the left). If they're demolishing the Varelli's building, then might as well swing the brick to the southside and build the foundation to support a tower right on the corner. Then you have the option of a "phase 2."

The latest info suggests they're "renovating" the Varelli's building, not demolishing it outright.

Honestly, I'm disappointed. I mean, the hotel does look better than the parkominium thingy, but I was really hoping for a redevelopment of the corner property too. The CDR submission's design strongly suggests they're not expecting to (even though the building would only occupy half of the zoning envelope).

EDIT: Boxbot beat me to it. This is a good looking project, but for the billboard. I wish it were taller and made better use of the corner property, but with Pearl, it will be done and done quickly.

Knight Hospitaller is on the right track. Picture this project with an exterior escalator along South Broad allowing easy ingress and egress for a rooftop shopping village and casino. Maybe a Wendy's. It's a no brainer, really.

I thought maybe it might be a SEPTA bus shelter or maybe the news stand from the side walk. You can just never tell what might end on the roof of a under construction building these days. Maybe a Rita's Water Ice; construction work can be pretty hot out in the sun.

If a commercial property that is on top of another commercial property wants to have public outdoor space for it's customers, I don't see what the problem is. I think it would be cool and different.
