Will miss the Zoo a lot but am really loving seeing so many crumbling garbage piles being torn down to make way for better built/better purposed constructions all over town. Despite the plague I still feel optimistic for the future of Win City.

Am told the ZU building fronting Osborne is expecting occupancy by early summer 2021. The two fronting Wardlaw likely not til early 2022.

It's a fine name for a somewhat dingy bar, but questionable for a new apartment building...

The Osborne Village Master Plan requires all new construction to be named as if it were a Krautrock band

Does there really need to be a slanty roof? That building sticks out like a sore thumb. No need to try and blend with the nieghbourhood.

It is bizarre that it fades to white at the bottom but the entrance is just black. Changed from the render.

Do flat roofs leak more when the membrane breaks down compared to a traditional sloped asphalt shingle roof. I also wonder what the cost difference is between a traditional sloped roof and a flat membrane roof?

I had a house with a flat roof, it was about 11 years old when I moved out and it did not leak a drop despite having some hefty snow loads on it. I feared the worst the whole time but it held up remarkably well... I had Chateau Roofing look at it when it was about 7 or 8 years old and they told me it was fine, nothing at all to worry about for years to come. Apparently flat roofs have come a long way over the years.

On top of Segovia I know of another two big bars not reopening on Osborne. Not public yet so I’m not going to announce, but there’s enough clues here for you to guess. I think Osborne and Corydon are going to be hit hard.

Walked by this on Tuesday. It looks like the entrance is actually a green wall made of grass. Couldn't get close enough to actually see if it's live grass or fake, but it's certainly an interesting choice!

So sad to hear about Segovia. That's a huge loss for the neighbourhood. That had been my answer to "what's the first thing you're going to do post-quarantine". Really depressing, and I worry we'll see a lot more of the same in the months to come.

The Into the Music space is becoming a dentist office. Truly awful.

Confirmed talks of a bar going into part of the old Toad space, I’ve heard it’s the Poutine King guy with some other partners (who opened The Underground).

Park Alleys bowling lane in South Osborne is under new ownership and will get a significant renovation. Reducing number of lanes to add in a stage, full kitchen, and bar. Plus going to make a patio. Should be awesome, been wanting a "fancy" bowling lane here for a long time.

Agreed, sounds like he has money and wants to do cool things.

Side note, a bunch of new planters were put in on the southern few blocks of South Osborne. Good to see someone (city?) is finally putting some attention in there... they are damn huge though, take up so much sidewalk space.
