I’d say St. Norbert is more south compared to where 2525 Pembina is located.

Well it is, Considering st Norbert isn’t even in Winnipeg...and if you live in the northern part of the city. The U of M is in the Deep South.

St. Norbert is definitely within Winnipeg. The Perimeter is not city limits.

No pics but they are putting in forms to re-pour the concrete removed after the fire. Windows going in on some lower levels.

And Antarctica is more south compared to Argentina. They're still both very south.

Yeah St Norbert was its own town for a long time but is now a part of the actual city

St. Norbert was part of the RM of Fort Garry which amalgamated with all the other nearby RMs, towns, and cities as part of Unicity in 1972.

Fort Garry itself was part of the RM of St. Vital before it became its own RM in 1912.

I thought it was a separate municipality that was annexed a few years after Unicity, perhaps at the same time Headingley was annexed.

i'm guessing the opportunity cost of not having this thing done and ready by the school year in september has gone down a lot. are universities going to be running on-campus classes by fall? i'm not sure

U of M is currently planning for all (or almost all) online teaching in the fall semester, but with the understanding that the situation could still change. A final decision will be made by July.

Phase 2: The current proposed building (phase 2) is approximately 60 meters tall (18 storeys plus a mechanical penthouse). This will be able to provide 432 Residential units that will vary between 1, 2 and 4-bedrooms. One major feature will be the commercial/retail uses on the main floor of the building, similar to the Arc (2525 Pembina) development. Please note that building details may change based on feedback received throughout the engagement process

Parking
There will be a total of approximately 140 parking stalls - 90 for residents located underground, and 50 for retail uses at surface level. Since alternative transportation modes are a primary component to the development, we will provide approximately 340 bike parking stalls, both at the surface & underground level.

I love how close to the street this is getting built. It's nice to see some proper urban design principles applied... if this had been built 40 years ago you know it would have been stashed at the back of the site with parking lots in front.

Wow great news! The Arc is already so imposing when driving up Pembina. Who would've thought we'd have an actual street wall anywhere on south Pembina? it makes such a difference.

^ If the U of M built something similar across the street it would be the best urban canyon in suburban Winnipeg
